As a habit, when I boot my PC I always prepare a task for myself in order to prevent my sitting and staring at my PC monitor while it struggles to come to life. For instance, I will make myself a cup of coffee and trot off for a number one in the john, where I will commiserate about the Georgian people.
Recently I've noticed that the tasks I assign myself are getting more complex and more time consuming. A cup of coffee just doesn't buy me enough time anymore so I add a sandwich to the order, (hold the mayo) then I go get the morning paper before returning to my desk. I pity the poor souls whose boot process involves a login in the middle. As for me, When I get back to my desk the PC better be ready for action or else...
Of course what this means is that like myself my PC is getting old, poor thing it's only four months old, while I'm getting on 500 months old already. The best solution for this progressive frustration is to leave the PC running until Windows just gives out on you, but with the soaring cost of energy I have calculated that this anti-frustration remedy is costing me in the neighborhood of $50 a month, WTF???
I have recently stumbled upon a product by Uniblue called "LocalCooling". It offers substantial power savings even if you leave your PC running, could this be the solution? Their site claims that over a quarter of million users have already downloaded this product and helped fight global warming. I must admit I like the concept, but need to put it to the test before I can openly endorse it.
So, I part from you this time with a question:
